about

Rest your body, your mind and the deepest layers of your being with this 26-minute deep relaxation audio track.

Yoga Nidra is an ancient meditation practiced lying down. It translates as "yogic sleep," as the body is supported in a sleep-like state while the mind remains awake. (If possible! You'll hear what you need to hear each time you practice, and receive many benefits even if you fall asleep.)

The benefits of yoga nidra are vast and unfold like a lotus of infinite petals for the dedicated practitioner. Rest becomes radical when it is not seen simply as the absence of work, but as a practice that builds a reserve of energy. Deep relaxation is a highly effective stress-reduction technique; a healing balm for sleep deprivation, overexertion, anxiety, and tension that is manifest both mentally and physically. Constructive rest restores our vitality, supporting immunity, resilience and creative energy. This healing modality supports the listener's ability to heal themselves from within, connecting with innate wisdom and internal resources.

This recording invites you to create the habit for rest practices - I'd recommend laying down for this deep relaxation meditation 3x weekly! The text and music are designed with repetition in mind so that you can engage in the deep relaxation practice regularly. If you have comfortable headphones, it may benefit you to immerse yourself in the sound. Comfort and safety are key, so be sure to gather the resources that support you in deep rest before practicing.

About the chant:
Chanting in sanskrit is a sacred and elevating dimension of yoga practice. Sanskrit is a vibrational language, which communicates the definition of words through the felt sense.
This Yoga Nidra recording features the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, a verse of the Rigveda sacred text. It’s said to be “life restoring” and is voiced in the final section with the intention to peacefully awaken the body from a restful, sleep-like state.

This mantra is foundational in my own spiritual practice, and I lend my voice to its vibration from a place of deep respect and cultural humility.
